BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man was shot and killed in Central Bakersfield on Wednesday night and witnesses say the shooter was a complete stranger to his victim.

It happened at 7:20 p.m. in the alley behind an apartment complex at 1509 Pacheco Rd.

Witnesses told police that the victim, Terry Ellis was standing with some friends when two men walked up and without saying a word, opened fire, hitting him in the back of the head and leg.

The suspects then ran from the scene and got into a late model gray Honda and drove away.

Ellis was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

So far, no arrests have been made and BPD has not released a suspect description at this time.
