Man shot in torso at Oildale market

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Sheriff's deputies are searching for clues following an early morning shooting at an Oildale convenience store.

 The shooting happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. Monday morning at the Speedway Market in the 800 block of James Road, according to Corey Wilford with the Kern County Fire Department.

When deputies arrived, they said they found the victim -- a 28-year old man -- with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment.

The victim told officers that a man shot him with a small caliber handgun while trying to steal his truck. The suspect was able to steal the truck, which was later found.

There is no official information on any suspects or arrests.
