BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Detectives with the Bakersfield Police Department developed information based on interviews and additional evidence that led to the arrest of two juveniles for conspiracy to commit murder after a shooting Sunday night.
The shooting happened just before midnight Sunday in the 7800 block of Silver Dollar Way.
Officers with the BPD said the victim, 29-year-old Jonathan Saavedra Dean, suffered major injuries and died at the hospital.
Officers said the juveniles, ages 16 and 17 were booked into juvenile hall on charges of conspiracy to commit homicide and homicide.
Detectives said they have also arrested 22-year-old Eric Gonzalez, and he was booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of conspiracy to commit homicide and homicide.
The investigation is ongoing.
During the early stages of the investigation, detectives said it was reported that the suspects in this incident were wearing masks, but that has been determined to be false. Detectives said there is no evidence at this time to indicate that this incident is related to a recent Quincy Street homicide that is also being investigated by the Kern County Sheriff's Department.
