Deputies look for suspect accused of stabbing, killing man at Dollar General parking lot in Oildale

OILDALE, Calif. - The Kern County Sheriff's Office needs the community's help finding a suspect accused of stabbing and killing a man in Oildale, Wednesday. 

Ronald Burchett, 57, is wanted for for the murder of Steven Caleb Taylor Corpe. 

The stabbing happened a little after 9 p.m.  in the parking lot of the Dollar General on Roberts Lane near Chester Avenue.

According to Sheriff's deputies, Burchett stabbed Corpe in the upper torso area. 

Corpe , 23, was taken to Kern Medical Center where he later died.

During the investigation, detectives learned that the altercation between Corpe and Burchett was related to a previous incident. According to deputies, Burchett had an altercation with an acquaintance of Corpe at a McDonald's parking lot shortly before the stabbing.

Burchett is described as a white man about 5-feet-7-inches tall, 160 pounds with grey hair and brown eyes. Burchett is known to frequent the Oildale and East Bakersfield areas.
