Man was shot in drive-by while taking out trash, police say

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man was shot and is in stable condition after an apparent drive-by in southwest Bakersfield. 

At about 1:22 a.m. Monday, Bakersfield police officers were sent to the 4800 block of Planz Road regarding a shooting.

Additional calls were received by the department saying that there was a victim of a gunshot in the 5000 block of Apple Blossom Drive.

Officers said they found a man there who had been shot several times.

Officers said the man told them he was dumping some trash in the dumpsters when he saw an older dark sedan occupied by two men.

The passenger fired several shots at him and then sped off in an unknown direction, officers said. The man was shot several times.

The man was taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment.
