Media Music Jam raises money to support Kern County cancer patients

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Local TV and radio personalities will hit the stage at Crystal Palace to raise money for local cancer patients, Saturday.

The Media Music Jam will include a set of songs sang by  the 23ABC Good Morning Kern County Crew, which includes Elaina Rusk, Erin Brisco, Mike Hart and Lauren Titus.

Every high note will be a chance to raise money for the Kern County Cancer Fund, a fund that provides financial and emotional support to resident in the area fighting cancer.

"One of the special things about the Kern County Cancer fund is that all the money stays here in Kern County," said Steve Flores who helped start the event.

Brandon Gonzales is one of the patients that has seen first hand how the Kern County Cancer Fund is working through out the community.

"They just make it so much easier on my stress level. I don't have to worry about the bills and they help out a lot...They're a big help," said Gonzales.

Gonzales was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer in 2012. Since then he's received countless chemotherapy treatments, two surgeries and most recently a stem cell transplant.

The Kern County Cancer Fund has helped family's like the Gonzales' with providing insurance and financial help when needed.
