Mission at Kern County low on toiletries for residents

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Mission at Kern County is asking for toiletry donations as pantries continue to run low for residents.

"They had a meeting and said we really need to do something because our pantry and our toiletry closest is just running very low on these item..and they're items you and I use every single day," said Jamie Durham the director of Community Development at the Mission.

The Mission took to Facebook Friday to announce that they are in urgent need of items, such as, shampoo, conditioner and razors.

Every month residents are limited on the number of toiletries they are given. Resident Crystal Tallez lives inside the women's home with 20 girls.

One thing Tallez would love to have donated is make-up, which is almost completely out.

"It is very important..it gives us confidence about ourselves you know we feel beautiful each day because of these donations," Tallez said.

Items that are urgently needed, include:
  • Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Razors
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Hair Spray
  • Boxers
  • Feminine Products
  • Shaving Cream
