BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A mother is facing murder charges nearly four years after her 4-year-old son died under suspicious circumstances.
Mark Dixon died in April 2010 after he was found unconscious in his parent's trailer west of Bakersfield.
Police documents said his mother, Alexis Dixon (Barrow), told police Mark Dixon had fallen from a table two-feet tall.
Alexis Dixon told police Mark Dixon's head had slid against a wall and hit a pole outside the residence, documents said.
Mark Dixon's death was ruled a homicide, and the cause was multiple blunt force traumas, documents said.
Mark Dixon has seen a physician three days before his death and had no injuries at that time, documents said.
Alexis Dixon was the only person around when Mark Dixon received his injuries, documents said.
The sheriff's office told 23ABC Dixon was arrested Monday on an outstanding warrant.
Alexis Dixon is now charged with first degree murder and assault of a child under 8 resulting in death.
Alexis Dixon is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
