Motorcyclist killed after colliding with SUV in Porterville Monday

PORTERVILLE, Calif. - Officers of the Porterville Police Department responded to a reported major injury traffic collision at the intersection of Olive Avenue at Porter Road in Porterville on Monday at approximately 10 a.m.
Early reports indicated that a motorcycle was involved and had collided with a vehicle within the intersection, said Dominic Barteau of the Porterville Police Department.
Upon arrival and further investigation, it was determined that the motorcyclist, David Green, 21, had been traveling westbound on Olive Avenue at a high rate of speed, officials said.
A Ford Explorer, driven by David Gonzales, 23, had been traveling eastbound on Olive Avenue prior to making a northbound turn onto Porter Road. The two vehicles collided within the intersection, officials said.
David Gonzales, driving the SUV, reported no injuries and his vehicle sustained major damage along its passenger side. David Green, driving the motorcycle, was transported to Sierra View District Hospital by ambulance, where he died from the injuries from the collision, officials said.
This collision is currently under investigation by the Porterville Police Department.
