BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The National Day of Prayer will be observed locally with a public event Thursday night in Bakersfield.
The Bakersfield Prayer Rally will be held at the Marketplace shopping center on Ming Avenue, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The prayer rally will include prayers and songs by various local churches and presentations by Bakersfield Mayor Harvey Hall, 34th District Assemblywoman Shannon Grove, and Bakersfield City Council Member Jacquie Sullivan, among others.
"We have an unprecedented opportunity to see the Lord's healing and renewing power made manifest as we call on citizens to humbly come before His throne," said organizer Danielle Wright.
Public prayers are welcomed and encouraged.
Wright says Bakersfield will join over 2 million Americans in celebrating the 62nd National Day of Prayer.
