Neighborhood watch training held at Jastro Park

BPD stressed importance of communication

Bakersfield police are calling on the public to help keep our streets safe.

The BPD held a neighborhood watch training event at Jastro Park Wednesday night after concerned residents reached out for help.

Officials taught people how to be more street smart.

Bakersfield police say learning to work with your neighbors and stressed the importance of maintaining communication.

The first thing police advise is stay informed by knowing who your neighbors are and how to detect suspicious activity.

When something looks out of the ordinary, try to get the most accurate descriptions of people and vehicles that you can.

Police say it's better to have a partial license plate number that's right than a full number that's wrong.

If you're interested in having the BPD come out for neighborhood watch training in your community call (661) 326-3053.
