BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Apple faithful started gathering outside the Valley Plaza Mall in Central Bakersfield at midnight on Friday.
iPhone enthusiasts were waiting for Bakersfield's Apple store to open -- so they could be among the first to purchase the new models.
While this dedication was commendable, it couldn't compare to the iPhone insanity in Japan, where people waited in line for a week.
All the buzz is over the iPhone 5S, an upgrade from the iPhone 5, and 5C, a cheaper version made with plastic instead of metal.
Without a contract the sought after cell phone could set you back as much as $650.
The gadget is so popular, certain versions have already sold out of stock in some places in China.
