NOR daddy-daughter dance event leaves a rhythmic beat of love in the air

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Smiles gleamed the faces of around 150 dancers -- young and old -- at the eleventh annual NOR daddy-daughter dance.

The event was held Sunday night at NOR Veteran's Hall, near McCary Street and Norris Road.

"I think it's great to bring your daughter to something like this,” said Ruben Masquez, who has attended the dance with his daughter, Leesa, for the past 10 years. “I'll keep coming as long as she wants to come with me."

Leesa says it’s a chance to spend quality time with her dad.

“I am just so extremely blessed to have my dad and I am so thankful for the opportunity,” she told 23ABC. “I know a lot of girls would do anything to be in my shoes.”

Event organizer Lisa Walker says it’s not uncommon to see fathers and daughters return year after year.

“It’s really exciting to see the girls grow up,” Walker said.

Attendees had the chance to share dinner together, take photos and win prizes. Tickets cost $25 per person.
