BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A group of nuns is traveling the country to push for immigration reform and their bus tour stopped in Bakersfield Saturday afternoon.
The “Nuns on a Bus” tour is a 6,500 mile tour with stops through 15 states.
The group held a rally in Bakersfield to urge Congressman Kevin McCarthy to lead the way when it comes to a comprehensive and bi-partisan immigration bill.
The nuns say they want a package that provides a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants.
The nuns held the rally right outside Congressman McCarthy’s office. They joined together with other local activists and clergy leaders.
The nuns have 600 miles left on their tour.
