Officials: 700 marijuana plants seized outside of Bakersfield, worth over $1 million

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kern County Sheriff's deputies searched a property near Rancheria Road and Poso Flat Road and seized over 700 marijuana plants being grown illegally, officials said.
Officials said the property was under investigation for growing marijuana.
The plants had the ability to produce over a thousand pounds of processed marijuana if they would have reached maturity, officials said.
The seizure had a potential street value in excess of $1 million, officials said.
Ontario, Calif. resident Israel Arteaga Martinez, 48, was arrested at the scene, officials said.
Martinez was transported to jail where he was booked for cultivation of marijuana, officials said.
