Officials: One suspect arrested for carjacking in Bakersfield

Perimeter set up near Foothill High School

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A perimeter was set up and a school was put on lock down Monday afternoon as officials said they were searching for suspected carjackers.

On Monday, April 1, at about 3:20 p.m., officials set up a perimeter near Eucalyptus and Park and placed Foothill High School on lockdown, as they searched for suspected carjackers.

Police said they were searching the area for two suspected carjackers who reportedly held a driver at gunpoint and took their car.

One carjacker was arrested shortly after the search began, according to reports.  Police are still searching for the second suspect.

Police said the car was found at Foothill High School.

Officials requested a K-9 unit to search the area.  At about 3:45 p.m., officials requested for an air unit to search the area as well.

Officials said the victim of the stolen car did not receive any injuries.
