BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Arson investigators are looking into a fire that started on a playground in east Bakersfield.
On Friday, March 29, at about noon, crews with the Bakersfield Fire Department and Kern County Fire Department went to Raffaello Palla Elementary School at Monitor Street and Fairview.
Arson investigators were called out when firefighters suspected foul play. Officials said they found some type of an incendiary device.
The playground equipment that caught fire is estimated to cost about $20,000.
Fortunately no kids were around when the fire started.
