One dead after car found overturned in canal
CHP, KCFD assists in attemped rescue

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A car that crashed into a canal near Interstate 5, resulted in a death this morning.
On Feb. 25, at about 7:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol went to a canal about 1.5 miles south of Old River Road regarding a car that was overturned in a canal. The Kern County Fire Department also went to the area to assist in the attempted rescue.
According to authorities, 65-year-old Erasmo Solis was driving on a dirt road in the early morning darkness, when he lost sight of the dirt road he was driving on and landed in the canal.
Officials pronounced Solis dead, upon arrival. At this time, officials said they are unsure if Solis drowned in the 10-foot deep water or if he was killed in the accident.
