BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A motorcycle rider has died after a crash involving a semi in the Kern County area, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
On August 5, at about 9:30 a.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol went to Copus Road, just east of Interstate 5, regarding a incident involving a semi.
When officers arrived, they discovered that a semi and motorcycle collided while traveling westbound on Copus Road.
The CHP said that the motorcyclist tried to pass the truck, but the truck made a left turn, and the two collided. The bike then reportedly got stuck underneath the truck.
The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the CHP, the driver of the motorcycle was James Dennis Ramos, 59, from Tehachapi.
