One shot in Southwest Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield police officers are investigating a shooting that left a woman with major injuries and a child in protective services early Wednesday morning in Southwest Bakersfield.
On May 29, shortly before 6a.m., officers with the BPD went to Sugarcane Avenue regarding a Hispanic man with a gun. A few minutes later, officers said they received a call regarding a woman bleeding inside a home on Milo Avenue.
When officers arrived, they said they found a woman suffering a gunshot wound and an uninjured three-year-old.
The woman was taken to a local hospital with major injuries.
At about 7 a.m., officers found the suspected man in another home on Milo Avenue. Officers said they also found a firearm.
Te suspect was detained and is being interviewed by investigators.
The child was taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services.
The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is urged to call the BPD at 327-7111.
