Panama-Buena Vista Union School District fires employee after posting offensive comments online

UPDATE (Feb. 17,2017 12:30 p.m.):

The Assistant Superintendent issued a statement regarding the matter:

On February 16, 2017, the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District learned of social media postings by a probationary, instructional aide that contained a racial slur and other derogatory remarks on a personal social media page.  In response to the postings, the District immediately investigated and took prompt, appropriate action. 

The instructional aide is no longer an employee of the District. 

Our district has a strong commitment to providing a safe and inclusive school environment for all students, and we will continue to work to ensure a positive learning environment where diversity is respected.

After posts with racial slurs were posted by a woman claiming to be an instructional aide online, the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District is taking action against the employee.

Assistant Superintendent Gerri Kincaid said that the words posted were disturbing, and the district did not condone the comments.

The district has no further comment at this time.
