Pedestrian killed on Niles Street in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Niles Street was closed early Friday morning after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident.
Officials with the California Highway Patrol say the victim, identified as 18-year-old Roberto Flores Velasquez, was discovered in the center median of Niles Street at 3:52 a.m., Friday morning.
The accident happened directly in front of Horace Mann Elementary school. There is no description of the suspect vehicle or driver.
Niles Street is now back open after being shutdown for several hours between Barlow and Pentz street.
