PG&E awards Millie Munsey Elementary School $5K to bring solar energy to the schools in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Pacific Gas and Electric Company announced Millie Munsey Elementary School in Bakersfield as their Bright Ideas Grant winner.

The elementary school was awarded $5,000 to complete a Go Beyond Solar Initiative project to bring solar energy to the schools in the Bakersfield City School District.

Applications for the 2013 PG&E Bright Ideas Grants program are currently being accepted through Nov. 30.  

Applications may be submitted in educational solar projects, youth energy and environmental programs, renewable energy or science-related field trips, 'green your school' projects, or service learning or workforce development programs.

Nearly $420,000 was given out as a part of the 2011 PG&E Bright Ideas Grant program.

 

Millie Munsey Elementary will celebrate their award on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m. at 3801 Brave Avenue.
