Power restored at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital after outage

UPDATE (October 4, 2017 10:24 a.m.): At 9:50 a.m. the power was restored at the Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. 

The hospital ran on emergency generators until the power was restored, and patient care was not impacted.

UPDATE (October 4, 2017 9:33 a.m.): Currently there are only two customers without power according to the PG&E website. Bakersfield Memorial Hospital is one of the two currently without power. 

The cause of the outage is due to equipment failure. Restoration time is expected to be around 1 p.m.

A PG&E power outage is affecting the Bakersfield Memorial Hospital as well as 100 of their other customers. 

The Hospital is currently running off of an emergency generator. Dignity Health Memorial Hospital said "patient safety is our top priority and patient care is not impacted by the outage" officials said. 

Due to the outage, the external phone systems are not working, therefore, an alternative phone number is available for patient updates at (661) 327-1792.
