Surveillance photos led to arrest of suspect wanted for stealing air compressor from Taft oilfield
Compressor was recovered and returned to owners

TAFT, Calif. - Kern County Sheriff's detectives arrested a Taft man suspected of stealing an air compressor from an oil field, Thursday.
Employees of Venoco Inc. reported a stolen Dewalt brand air compressor from one of their oil field sites on Monday.
The employees were able to catch the suspect stealing the air compressor through surveillance photos. They later distributed the pictures over to detectives and other oil field employers in the area.
Detectives were able to identify Russell Jones, 34, after receiving information from multiple oil field employers.
Jones was found and arrested at 207 General Petroleum Road in Taft on theft related charges.
During the investigation, detectives were also led to the ultimate recovery of the compressor and it was returned to the owners.
Jones was booked into the Taft Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property and petty theft.
