Police, animal rescue save Arvin puppies covered in motor oil

ARVIN, Calif. - Some puppies from Arvin are lucky to be alive after a home remedy went bad.

An Arvin resident found three abandoned puppies in an orchard. The resident tried to cure the puppies of mange with motor oil.

He called Arivn police when the puppies got sick. Police turned the puppies over to HALT (Helping Animals Live Tomorrow).

The puppies are a pit bull mix.

Dr. Sangh Mahgla said motor oil is toxic to the animals.

They are currently at All Critters Pet Hospital on Rosedale Highway being evaluated.

HALT said the pups will be released to a foster home Friday.

The group holds adoption days every other Saturday at Tractor Supply on Rosedale Highway and every Saturday at Petco on Gosford Avenue.

If you'd like more information about adopting one of these pups you can call the pet hospital at (661) 589-1234.

If you'd like to make a donation to HALT you can visit their website at www.haltrescue.org.
