Police: Caller stops possible home invasion
Last Updated: 43 days ago
On Tuesday, California City Police Department officers were sent to the 8500 block of S. Loop Blvd. in regards to a man possibly trespassing in the rear yard of a home.
The suspect was later identified as George Stringer.
Officers said Stringer entered the property and was attempting to open the door, which was initially believed to lead to the residence.
The caller interrupted the burglary and confronted Stringer, officers said.
The caller was able to snap several photographs of Stringer while at the property, officers said.
Officers said they worked with detectives and were able to identify Stringer as the suspect.
A local “Alert” was sent out to the community, which prompted several calls from citizens advising the police department of possible sightings of Stringer.
Through this alert system, Stringer discovered police were searching for him.
Stringer turned himself in and later admitted to having entered the property. Stringer was arrested on charges of attempted burglary and later transported to the Kern County Jail for processing.
