BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Police Department is asking the community for help in obtaining any information about a homicide that occurred early Monday morning.
Around 1:30 a.m., Bakersfield police officers responded to the 700 block of V Street for a report of gunshots being fired.
When they arrived, officers located a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The investigation revealed that a mid-sized sedan was seen leaving the area after the gunshots were heard.
Police are describing the suspect as a male.
The victim's identity is being withheld pending a release by the Kern County Coroner's Office.
