Edwardo Alvarez prounced dead at scene

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Police Department believe a man who died in a car accident Wednesday was chasing another vehicle when he crashed.

Edwardo Alvarez died in an accident at about 4:30 p.m. near University Avenue and Arcadia Street.

Officials say the 48-year-old was heading eastbound on University when he tried to make a u-turn going too fast. He then lost control and crashed into a brick wall.

Alvarez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told investigators that they saw a Nissan Altima chasing a white Dodge Charger on University Avenue right before the crash happened.

Police do not think the driver of the Charger was involved in the crash, but they are asking them to come forward and help in the investigation.
