Popular New Year's resolutions can reduce risk of cancer

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - With the new year two days away, many people are rolling out their list of resolutions. 

According to USA.gov the 13 most popular New Year's resolutions include:

  • Drink Less Alcohol*
  • Eat Healthy Food*
  • Get a Better Education
  • Get a Better Job
  • Get Fit*
  • Lose Weight*
  • Manage Debt
  • Manage Stress
  • Quit Smoking*
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  • Save Money
  • Take a Trip
  • Volunteer to Help Others*
  • (resolutions with a "*" can help reduce cancer)

The American Cancer Society said that 6 out of those resolutions can help reduce your risk of cancer. 

Fitness instructor Kyle Jean of the Pinnacle Performance institute said that people should consider taking baby steps in order to attain their fitness goals. 

"My biggest advice would be is to find a goal that you can actually attain. It can't be too extreme," said Jean.
