OILDALE, Calif. - A 2-year-old boy drown in a backyard pool in Oildale Monday.
According to Kern County Sheriff's Sergeant Gary Williams, the child was left with a babysitter who then left the child with her boyfriend and 6-year-old son. When the babysitter returned, they found the 2-year-old face down in a small pool and the child had drowned.
He was transported to Bakersfield Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Officers say the boyfriend said he thought his girlfriend took the 2-year-old with her when she left.
The drowning is now being investigated as a suspicious death because of the age of the child.
