Power of the Purse event to celebrate power people have to change lives

Event will have home tour, silent auction

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A fundraiser event will be held Friday as a celebration of the power people have to change lives.

The Alliance against Family Violence and Sexual Assault will present their signature fundraising event, 'Power of the Purse'.

The event will feature a shopping spree, a home tour, silent auction, and an opportunity to catch up with other women over wine and appetizers.

The 'Power of the Purse' event will be April 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the home of Richard and Teddi Fanucchi on Ruby Lane. To order tickets for the event, call 661-378-5646.

The "Power of the Purse" celebrates the power that dedicated people can bring toward changing the lives of those that don't have the power or means to do it on their own. Whether it is women helping women and children or men helping to protect women and children--all have the power to ensure that all victims of domestic violence and sexual assault have a safe place to go in order to gain back power over their lives.

Last year, over 300 people attended 'Power of the Purse' and raised over $100,000, according to the organizations website

All of the proceeds from this event stay in Kern County and support the Alliance.

The Alliance against Family Violence and Sexual Assault strengthens community through prevention, education and crisis intervention services.
