BAKERSFIELD - Military men and woman are being honored for their service and sacrifices during a special ceremony at the VFW Post 97.  The event brings together POW’s from World War II and Korea.

Organizers also paid tribute to MIA’s.  The annual remembrance program also recognizes families of service men and woman.  The program provides dinner and a space where veterans can come together and celebrate their commitment.

“It just brings the community together.  Bakersfield is a very giving community and a lot of them don't know that they have these heroes living among us so, it’s just a way to bring everyone together," said veteran, Bill Potter.

Event organizers say there are still 83,000 soldiers still missing and should always be remembered.
