BAKERSFIELD - More than 1,500 cancer survivors and 300 teams raised money for cancer research at Relay for Life Sunday.
The event, with 16,000 people in attendance, raised $1.1 million, down from $1.6 from the event last year.
The American Cancer Society said the funds raised help Kern County with research, outreach programs for local patients and call centers.
