Reports: Hazardous waste leaked in Bakersfield, Kern County aqua duct

Truck was told he was overweight

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Officials detained a truck after it allegedly dumped hazardous waste in a Kern County aqua duct this afternoon.

On March 27, at about 12:30 p.m., crew with Hazmat and the California Highway Patrol went to the duct near 4104 Industrial Parkway regarding a liquid substance that was leaked onto the roadway, which then leaked into the duct.

CHP officials said they were told the tanker was dumping fluid into the duct because he was told he was overweight

Officials confirmed the materials leaked were not hazardous.

CHP did not closed any roads.  Fish and Game were called out to the scene, but were not filing a report unless something was concrete.
