BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Residents are about three weeks away from a special election to fill the 16th District Senate seat.
Starting tonight the two candidates face off in the series of debates.
Democrat Leticia Perez and republican Andy Vidak will discuss issues including job creation, minimum wage, and education.
"Viewers will get a chance to see that the differences in this race are well-defined and clear as to who has a plan for the future," said Perez. "I am looking forward to having this discussion to show that I will always stand up for the Central Valley's working and middle-class families and residents."
Tonight's debate is taking place in Fresno. It will be held at KMPH 26 starting at 7 p.m. The debate will be moderated by station anchor Ashley Ritchie and KMJ News Director and anchor Blake Taylor.
Sunday's debate will be in Bakersfield on Sunday, June 30 at KGET 17. The debate will begin at 7 p.m. and be moderated by two of their news anchors.
