On Thursday, July 28th, Optimal Hospice Care and The Pointe At Summit Hills, the newest premier assisted living and memory care in Bakersfield, will be having a "Seniors Prom Afternoon" for the residents at The Pointe at Summit Hills.

The address is 4501 Upland Point Drive, Bakersfield, CA  93306. This event will have a beach theme with the students assisting The Pointe's Activities Director, Jason Baldock, with decorating prior to the event.

Festivities will begin at 3:30pm - 4:30pm, when the residents will have the opportunity to have their nails painted and makeup done to get "ready" for their special evening.  Dinner, jazz music by Richard Gonzales, and dancing will then follow from 4:30pm - 6:00pm.

The "DreamCatchers", an Optimal Hospice Youth Volunteer Program, is made up of students from Centennial, Frontier, Liberty and Stockdale and Stockdale's Honor Society.  About 20 Dreamcatcher student volunteers will be attending this event dressed in their prom attire in order to bring the prom experience to the residents for socialization, fun and to engage with their community.

The DreamCatchers volunteer for Optimal Hospice to fulfill dreams (special meals, family gatherings, themed parties, etc) to terminally ill hospice patients.  The students also interact with residents at nursing homes and assisted living facilities providing arts and crafts, bingo and karaoke.  Stockdale Honor Society also volunteers for Optimal Hospice throughout the year participating in holiday food drives and the Veteran's Day Parade.
