Review Board: Officer Involved Shooting in Bear Valley Springs within policy

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A review board has determined that a shot fired by an officer in Bear Valley Springs was within policy.
On April 13, at about 10 p.m., a Bear Valley Springs officer, Senior Officer Brad Richie, went to a home on Pinedale Drive regarding a disturbance.
When officers arrived, two men came running out of the house, including the shot victim 21-year-old Christopher Wenning.
Wenning died as a result of the gunshot.

This meeting held at the Kern County District Attorney’s Investigations Division office was comprised of three law enforcement executives from nearby agencies (Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and a retired Bakersfield Police Department Lieutenant).
This completes the investigative review process for this incident.
Earlier in the month an Administrative Investigation was conducted by Stallion Springs Police Department which also concluded the actions of the Officer during this critical incident was within departmental policy.
