BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A storage shed and ballpark concession stand with office were engulfed in flames last night, resulting in the office being destroyed.
On July 14, at about 3:30 a.m., crews with the Kern County Fire Department went to N. Downs and W. Church in Ridgcrest regarding a fire.
Kern County firefighters arrived on scene and found a 600-square-foot single story building and a 160-square-foot two story structure, both with fire showing.
The single story structure, which appeared to be used for storage, was about 600 feet from the second fire building, and was fully involved with fire when firefighters arrived on scene.
The second building was a two story structure with ballpark concessions on the bottom floor, and office space on the top floor. Firefighters placed a ladder in the second story window and began attacking the fire from the outside.
The fire destroyed the top floor of the building, while the first floor only sustained moderate water damage from the firefight above.
Both fires were knocked down after a 40 minute battle, and a fire investigator was called to the scene to find the cause of the fire.
