Roberto Cortes died of gunshot wound after being dumped at the hospital; Cortes' car missing

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield police released more details about a suspicious death by gunshot Saturday morning.

The victim in the case has been identified as Roberto Cortes, 24 of Bakersfield.

The exact location of the shooting has not yet been determined but detectives believe that the offense took place in the area of East 18th Street and Union Avenue.

On Saturday, Nov. 10 at about 2:17 a.m. Cortes was dropped off at Kern Medical Center by subjects occupying a vehicle described as a white 4-door Lexus sedan.

Cortes’ personal vehicle, described as a black 2004 Mercedes C230 coupe, with California license plate 5LBH705 is missing, officials said.

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating both of these vehicles in addition to any information related to this investigation.

The Secret Witness Program is offering a reward up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and filing of a complaint of the suspect/s responsible for this offense.
