BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - California Highway Patrol reported an accident on the westbound SR 58, just west of Chester Avenue.
The on-ramp from H Street to the westbound SR 58 was closed. Two lanes on the westbound SR 58 were open after the accident, but they were moving slowly due to emergency vehicles.
The two-car accident occurred when a Toyota Scion driven by Jerrid Lewis, 21, rear-ended a Chevy Blazer, CHP said.
The Chevy Blazer, driven by Christopher Dixon, 21, hit the center divider and flipped. One passenger of the Chevy Blazer, Justin Dixon, was ejected from the vehicle, because he was not wearing a seatbelt, CHP said.
The Justin Dixon, 25, sustained major injuries and was transported to Kern Medical Center, CHP said.
The Chevy Blazer was also carrying Gene Dixon, 41, Andrea Hill, 32 and Malea Hill, 7.
