Rosamond Sheriff deputies seized 2 1/2 ounces of Meth, firearm, arrest Brian Smith

ROSAMOND, Calif. - A sheriff's deputy patrolling Rosamond stopped a Honda Civic for a traffic violation near 50th Street on Baccus Road at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. 

The driver of the Honda, Brian Smith, 36, of Rosamond, was found to be on Felony Probation and appeared to be under the influence of drugs, officials said. 

Deputies searched the vehicle and found over 2.5 ounces of methamphetamine packaged for sales, and an electronic scale in a jacket in the car, officials said.

A loaded 9 mm Beretta pistol was located next to the driver seat, officials said.

Smith was arrested for transportation, possession for sales, possession for sales of meth while armed, felon in possession of a firearm, and other charges, officials said.

Smith was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Mojave Jail.
