Rosemary Wahl will stay on as undersheriff after retirement, Kern County Board of Supervisors say

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A woman retiring from her current Kern County job will be able to stay on part time as an undersheriff, the Board of Supervisors decided Tuesday.

Rosemary Wahl will stay on as extra help after her retirement.

The 51-year-old Wahl will now be paid $76,000 per year and will not receive benefits.

It is a move that would save the county about $200,000.

The arrangement will be evaluated in 9 months.
