BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - As you get in the spooky spirit Kern County firefighters want to remind you what you and your children wear could determine if it's a safe or dangerous Halloween.
23ABC spoke with KCFD spokesperson Eric Coughran about what to look out for while shopping for haunted decorations.
"When you're looking at labels or looking at costumes, whether it's the wigs or the costumes itself, you want to look for 'flame resistant' or 'fire resistant'" Coughran said.
Experts suggest swapping flame-lit candles for electric options whenever possible.
Also, keep your children in groups with flashlights to make it easier for cars and others to see them.
