BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -

Kern County Fire, in cooperation with California Association of School Transportation Officials, and California Highway Patrol, will be hosting an exercise to help prepare Kern County school bus drivers for a major incident involving a school bus accident with multiple passengers on board.

The event will have an accident scene involving a school bus and passenger vehicle. Drivers will be able to see first-hand a realistic scenario walking through emergency procedures during the incident, providing care, and passing essential information on to 911 dispatchers and responding emergency personnel.

During a major incident many different agencies will be involved and communication is key. The goal is to have a seamless emergency response to a major school bus accident, providing working knowledge of Kern County’s emergency system to ensure a positive outcome.

The exercise  will be on Nov. 3 at 5642 Victor Street, at 8 a.m.
