School districts join forces to craft their new lesson plans under Common Core

'Design Teams' revising units for rollout in 2014

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - School across California are preparing to make the switch to the 'Common Core' curriculum in the fall.

In an effort to make the transition as smooth as possible, Rosedale Union, Norris, Fruitvale and Greenfield Union school districts have joined forces to write the new lesson plans in their schools.

There has been some criticism regarding the new standards, and while it'll mean students will have to make some adjustments in the classroom, school officials say it should pay off in the long run.

The 'Design Teams' in this special four district collaboration will meet again in January, and again in May, to iron out the final details before the full rollout in the fall.
