Second suspect identified in Central Bakersfield Halloween murder

The BPD ask for community's assistance

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A second suspect has been identified in the investigation of a Halloween murder where  a man was shot and killed in Central Bakersfield and witnesses said the shooters were a complete stranger to the victim.

The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community's assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection with the Oct. 31, murder of Terry Ellis, in the 1500 block of Pacheco Road. 

Further investigation has revealed Jamal Markece Epps, 24, and Cory Hunter, 30, were involved in this case.

Epps, who was in custody on an unrelated case, was arrested for murder, conspiracy, felon in possession of a firearm and participation in a criminal street gang.

Detectives have an arrest warrant for Hunter, charging him with murder, conspiracy, felon in possession of a firearm and participation in a criminal street gang.

Anyone with information regarding this case of Hunter's whereabouts is urged to call the BPD at 327-7111.
