BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Many people already have an idea of what type of tree they are looking for.

But in order to keep your tree looking good as long as possible, you need to pick the right one at the lot.

When you are at the lot, you should perform the fresh test.

You should ask where the tree comes from. Some lots buy trucked-in trees before Thanksgiving, that were cut down weeks before.

Also, you want to make sure the lot has the trees stored in water even before you buy it, then keep it in water once you get home.
