SHAFTER, Calif. - Due to the increase in farm equipment being stolen in the rural areas of Kern County, the Kern County Sheriff's Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit placed farm equipment in the Shafter area.
The farm equipment was under electronic surveillance.
On July 17, detectives received an alarm indicating that the farm equipment had been moved.

Officers said they arrested 33-year-old Juan Garibay for possession of stolen property and possession of a stolen vehicle. He was booked into the Central Receiving Facility.
