Local Man Dies After He Was Shot By Deputy During A Fight Over The Officer's Weapon
Suspect Stabbed Elderly Man Before Fight

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - One man is dead, after he was shot by a Sheriff's Deputy during a fight over the officer's gun.
Officials said the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Caleb Blackburn, stabbed 61-year-old Danny Jones in the front yard of a home on Woodrow Ave. around 4:45 PM.
Investigators said when deputies arrived and found Blackburn, he was acting in a bizarre manner and refused to follow directions.
A struggle ensued, during which officials said Blackburn grabbed a deputies holstered gun and tried to remove it.
A taser was used on Blackburn that reportedly had no effect.
Another deputy reportedly fired one shot from his gun, striking Blackburn in the upper torso.
Blackburn was rushed to Kern Medical Center where he died a short time later.
Jones was transported by ambulance to Kern Medical Center where he was treated and released.
